MOGADISHU — H.E. Mohamud Moalim Abdulle, Chairman of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), received Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed Mursal, President of Mogadishu University (MU), today to discuss activating the existing strategic partnership, as reported by the Agency’s Official Facebook Page.
This meeting builds upon the success of the two scientific conferences held over the past two years and follows up on the previously signed MoU, focusing on the ongoing preparations for the third annual conference on building resilience, according to the Agency’s Official Facebook Page.
Both sides reviewed the outcomes of research and field studies emerging from previous editions, exploring ways to develop them to strengthen the national response to climate challenges, ensuring that accumulated scientific recommendations are transformed into procedural policies for disaster risk reduction.
The discussions emphasized that the continuity of this scientific movement for the third consecutive year represents the cornerstone in institutionalizing the relationship between the government and academic sectors, through which SoDMA seeks to utilize the university’s research innovation in developing national systems for crisis management.
