MOGADISHU — In a continued effort to alleviate humanitarian suffering, Qatar Charity (QC), with the generous support of donors from Qatar, has distributed essential food aid to hundreds of displaced families living in the Garasbaaley camps of the Banadir region in Somalia.
According to a statement released today by Qatar News Agency (QNA), the distribution reached 350 internally displaced households, each receiving a food parcel containing basic staples sufficient to sustain a family for one month.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Abdulfatah Adam Moallim, Director of Qatar Charity’s Somalia Office, emphasized that this initiative is part of a broader series of emergency relief projects aimed at assisting the displaced population. “Addressing the needs of the most vulnerable communities remains a top priority in Qatar Charity’s humanitarian strategy,” he stated.
Mr. Moallim expressed appreciation for the ongoing support of Qatari donors and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to extending on-the-ground assistance in areas heavily impacted by continuous displacement. One of the beneficiaries, Fatuma Noor Mohamed Abdi, a mother of seven, shared her gratitude: “I had nothing to feed my children today. These food supplies have truly saved us from hunger.”
Also commenting on the initiative, Mr. Osman Adam Hussein, Head of Relief and Humanitarian Affairs in Garasbaaley, commended Qatar Charity’s intervention. He noted that the assistance came at a critical time when displaced families are enduring harsh living conditions, limited resources, and a lack of basic services.
This initiative is part of Qatar Charity’s global “Feed and Sustain” campaign, which was launched to combat hunger affecting millions around the world, particularly in regions struck by conflict and natural disasters. The organization continues to urge donors in Qatar to contribute to its life-saving food programs.
