MOGADISHU — H.E. Mohamud Moalim Abdulle, Chairman of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), inaugurated today in Mogadishu a national conference dedicated to addressing the humanitarian response to the severe drought affecting several provinces across the country.
According to the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), the conference brought together senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, representatives from regional relief ministries, and the Banadir Regional Administration to evaluate the impact of the drought and coordinate an urgent, unified response to the crisis.
SONNA reported that the Chairman emphasized the critical importance of delivering immediate aid to save lives and mitigate the escalating effects on vulnerable populations. He further called for enhanced cooperation and integration among all relevant stakeholders to streamline relief efforts.
As detailed by the Somali National News Agency, the Chairman reaffirmed that the Somali Disaster Management Agency will persist in its humanitarian operations to ensure that life-saving assistance reaches the most drought-affected communities nationwide.
