GAROWE — As part of ongoing humanitarian efforts to bolster social solidarity and alleviate the suffering of those most in need, international relief campaigns continue to provide urgent food support. Synchronized with the Holy Month of Ramadan, these initiatives aim to ensure the stability of affected families and strengthen the resilience of local communities facing living challenges.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) distributed 400 food baskets in the “Gadbajiran” area of Puntland State, Somalia, benefiting approximately 2,400 individuals from vulnerable and needy families.
Official sources stated that this assistance is part of the “Eta’am” food basket project in Somalia for the year 2026, which aims to provide essential nutritional requirements for populations in regions facing gaps in securing necessary needs during the blessed month.
According to the news report cited by the Agency, this initiative is part of a series of relief projects implemented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through its humanitarian arm to support sisterly countries and communities in need worldwide, embodying the values of global giving and cooperation.
Released reports indicated that the food baskets were distributed through a structured field mechanism ensuring that support reaches eligible recipients, particularly in remote areas facing logistical difficulties, thereby mitigating the economic burdens on those affected by humanitarian crises.
Press information noted that this project reflects the Centre’s leading role in combating hunger and improving the quality of life through integrated relief programs encompassing food, health, and shelter sectors, targeting enhanced food security levels across various Somali regions.
The donor entity reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its support for the Somali people, contributing to enhanced human development and providing a dignified life for those affected by current climatic and economic conditions, while strengthening the bonds of brotherhood between the two nations.
Saudi humanitarian projects remain a safety valve for supporting social stability in stricken regions. This direct aid contributes to consolidating the values of global human solidarity, transforming relief commitments into a tangible reality that preserves human dignity and mitigates the impact of successive living crises.
