MOGADISHU — With the support of benevolent donors in Qatar, Qatar Charity (QC) has delivered emergency food aid to hundreds of displaced families living in dire humanitarian conditions on the outskirts of the Somali capital, Mogadishu. This initiative comes at a critical time, as the country continues to grapple with rising prices, ongoing drought, and years of internal displacement.
According to a report published on Qatar Charity’s official website, the distribution focused on several camps in Deynile District, one of the largest host areas for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Mogadishu. The aid consisted of comprehensive food baskets containing essential staples, enough to cover the needs of a family for one month — part of broader efforts to curb hunger and enhance food security among the most affected populations.
“I had nothing left to feed my children”
Speaking to a Qatar Charity field representative, Falestine Ahmed, a displaced mother who has been living in a camp for several years, said:“Qatar’s generous hands have always supported us during the hardest times. These food supplies arrived just as we were running out. I had nothing left to feed my children.”
Many beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to Qatar Charity and the people of Qatar for their ongoing support, which continues to offer a lifeline for families struggling to survive under harsh conditions.
This initiative is part of Qatar Charity’s wider humanitarian programs in Somalia, which cover various sectors including food security, water and sanitation, healthcare, and education — all aimed at promoting resilience and restoring dignity among crisis-affected communities.
