SoDMA collaborates with UNOCHA on humanitarian initiatives

MOGADISHU — The Chairman of Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) Mahamoud Moallim Abdulle held yesterday evening a constructive meeting with the Head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Somalia.

The discussions revolved around key humanitarian initiatives, staff training in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps, and the imminent launch of Somalia’s Humanitarian Plan.

The Chairman  emphasized the significance of optimizing the distribution of humanitarian aid to address critical needs across the nation. The collaboration aims to enhance the efficiency and reach of aid efforts, ensuring that assistance is delivered promptly to those in need.

“I had a fruitful discussion with the head of @OCHASom on the importance of optimizing the distribution of humanitarian aid, strengthening staff training in IDP camps, launching the Somalia Humanitarian Plan in Mogadishu, which aims to boost humanitarian activities in the country,” stated Commissioner Moallim.

A crucial aspect of the discussions centered on staff training within IDP camps. Strengthening the capabilities of workers in these camps is vital for providing effective support to displaced populations. The training initiatives seek to empower camp workers with the skills and knowledge necessary to address the unique challenges faced by IDPs.

The upcoming launch of Somalia’s Humanitarian Plan in Mogadishu, he said represents a strategic move to bolster humanitarian activities throughout the country.

The plan outlines a comprehensive framework for addressing various humanitarian needs, aligning efforts to create a more coordinated and impactful response.
