MOGADISHU — The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre inaugurated a conference on the role of Islamic scholars in promoting peace and reconciliation
The Prime Minister who spoke at the conference emphasized, “how important it is for Somali scholars take the lead in the defense of the country and the elimination of terrorist ideology,” according to a statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister of the Government.
“Prime Minister Hamsa underlined that the various problems and underdevelopment that have delayed the progress in Somalia can be overcome with the full cooperation of the people, the religious scholars, the intellectuals and the government, and he specifically called on the religious scholars to play an active role in reconciliation, stabilization, government building and the completion of the constitution,” the statement from the conference added.
The conference, which was organized by the Center for Research and Studies in Maqasid, was attended by the Chief of the Supreme Court Mr. Bashe Yusuf Ahmed, top officials from government councils, scholars, Somali intellectuals and delegations from Arab countries and neighboring countries.
