BELEDWEYNE — At least 10 people were killed and 15 others injured in a suicide bomb attack at a restaurant in the central Somalia town of Beletweyne.
Sources said that a suicide bomber who was at the restaurant blew up at about 1 pm local time when most people were having lunch blew up killing scores and injuring others.
Among those killed is Beletwyne Deputy district Commissioner for Social Affairs Abdirahman Keynan while the majority of the casualties were civilians.
The area is popular for festivities including events such as weddings. The attack happened ahead of Lower House elections scheduled for Sunday.
