Somalia govt calls for vigilance as storms kill 10 in Jubbaland

MOGADISHU   The Federal Government has appealed to residents of storms-affected regions in Jubbaland to be vigilant warning the situation is still unpredictable following the death of ten people Friday.

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs while condoling with families of those who lost their lives called for vigilance as storms are still likely to recur in the coastal areas.

At least 10 people were killed Friday while 21 fishing boats were destroyed after the storms hit the coastal areas of Jubbaland.

The National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre warned last week of possible flooding along with riverine areas as heavy rains continue to be experienced in various parts of the country.

Over 200,000 people have since been affected by the floods countrywide.
