Somalia allocates 5 million USD to combat Coronavirus outbreak

MOGADISHU — The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Ali Kheyre on Wednesday announced  that the Government has set a budget of $ 5 million USD to tackle the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) nationwide, SONNA reported

In a preventive measure, the Somali government announced the closing of all schools and universities across the country starting from March 17th for 15 days to prevent the spread of corona-virus.

In addition, the Prime Minister called on citizens to postpone holding major conferences and public gatherings during this period.

The Federal government is working on preparing quarantine sites to treat suspected cases of corona-virus (COVID19) and has set Martini hospital to check and treat suspected corona-virus cases.

However, Mr. Kheyre discussed with traders about the impact of the Coronavirus on commercial issues in the country and ways to take the necessary measures to deal with this situation

He urged the nation to unite for combating this virus and to follow up on all necessary health instructions in order to prevent the spread of the virus.
