Sixteen people die for diarrhea in Beletweyne

BELETWEYNE — Diarrhea outbreak has killed 16 people in villages under the Hiiraan region caused by river Shebelle floods in November 2019. Beletweyne referral hospital has received 75 patients for the last two days.

The impact of waterborne disease in BeledWeyn town reaches a high level of diarrhea patient receiving to the health centers in every 30 minutes following large flooding in the region.

Hiran regional deputy commissioner of the social serves department, Sheikh Hussein Osman told Goobjoog News that the administration has set up a special center to prevent the spread of diarrhea disease.

“The administration had arranged a special vehicle that brings patients to the health centers from far villages,” said Sheikh Hussein Osman. The administration of BeledWeyn demands emergency medical supply as the situation becomes more difficult to handle and prevent the disease.
