Two children killed in a landmine blast in Bay

BAIDOA — Two children died while five others sustained injuries when a landmine they were playing with exploded to them in Goofgaduud Burey area of ​​Bay region. Some of the children affected by the improvised explosive device were relatives according to a local administration official we spoke to.

“The children were from the same family, and the remains of the explosives exploded to them surprisingly,” Abdullahi Nur, the deputy mayor of Goofgaduud Burey told Goobjoog News. He added that some of the wounded children were taken to Baidoa town for treatment

Since the collapse of Somalia’s central government in 1991 there has been a number of casualties contributed by the remains of explosives planted or littered throughout the country.
