GAROWE — The monthly Inter-Cluster Coordination Group (ICCG) meeting was held at the headquarters of the Puntland Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination among government institutions and humanitarian organizations operating in the region.
According to a media update published on the Ministry’s official Facebook page, the meeting was opened by Ismail Mohamud Jama, Director of the Ministry’s Relief Department, with the participation of the Head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) in Puntland, Mr. Gooni, alongside representatives from humanitarian agencies and sector partners.
Participants discussed ways to enhance coordination in responding to humanitarian needs, particularly in supporting populations affected by drought and improving the delivery of assistance to vulnerable communities.
The Ministry presented an update on the current humanitarian situation in the region, highlighting ongoing challenges and the increasing need for additional humanitarian interventions to address the impacts of worsening drought conditions.
Participants emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the government and international partners to ensure a more effective and sustainable humanitarian response that reduces the suffering of affected populations.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue holding monthly coordination sessions to enhance integration among humanitarian actors and improve the overall quality of response.
