HARGEISA — The Ministry of Resettlement and Humanitarian Affairs in Somaliland today distributed non-food items (NFI) to 56 refugee families residing in Hargeisa, who were affected by recent rainfall in the city.
According to a media update published on the Ministry’s official Facebook page, this intervention forms part of urgent humanitarian response efforts aimed at supporting affected families and strengthening assistance to the most vulnerable refugee and asylum-seeking populations.
The distributed items included essential relief supplies such as plastic sheeting (tarpaulins), solar lamps, and hygiene kits, intended to reduce the impact of harsh weather conditions on beneficiary households.
The Minister of the Ministry, Mr. Suleiman Du’ale Haji Jama, reaffirmed the government’s continued commitment to supporting vulnerable groups, noting that these interventions are part of broader humanitarian programs aimed at improving the conditions of refugees and asylum seekers.
The event concluded with appreciation expressed by the Chairperson of the Refugee Committee, who emphasized that the assistance would help alleviate suffering and meet urgent needs among affected families.
This initiative is part of ongoing humanitarian efforts by the Ministry of Resettlement and Humanitarian Affairs in Somaliland to respond to climate-related shocks and support vulnerable groups, particularly refugees and those affected by adverse weather conditions.
