KSrelief continues its humanitarian projects in Kismayo

KISMAYO — Construction works continue in the Somali city of Kismayo for the housing units and service facilities project dedicated to those affected by floods, funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief).

The Somali National News Agency (SONNA) reported that the project has witnessed a significant leap in constructing vital components, as excavation and construction works have commenced for the mosque and the health center to ensure the provision of religious and healthcare services for the beneficiaries.

This construction progress is part of a comprehensive plan to build 200 integrated housing units, aiming to create a safe and stable living environment for families who lost their shelters due to natural disasters and floods that struck the region.

The Somali agency further noted that the works also included the initiation of a strategic water tank with a capacity of 40 cubic meters, intended to be the fundamental pillar in providing clean water to the residential complex and its affiliated educational and service facilities.

The progress in these facilities, which effectively launched in February and March of this year, reflects the level of commitment to the project’s set timeline since its foundation stone was laid late last year.

Implementation operations are being conducted under joint engineering and technical supervision involving government entities and the consultancy office, ensuring that the structures meet the highest international standards of quality and structural safety.

This Saudi humanitarian initiative aims to enhance social stability and improve living and environmental conditions in Jubaland State by providing an integrated infrastructure that encompasses housing, education, and health.

The Solidarity Community Care Organization is participating as the implementing partner on the ground, ensuring that aid and construction services reach the most deserving groups among those displaced by floods in Kismayo.

This project serves as a model for effective humanitarian cooperation, contributing to the transformation of affected areas into urban residential communities equipped with the essentials for a dignified life and sustainable basic services.

These efforts come within the context of the continuous support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its humanitarian arm, to assist Somalia in addressing humanitarian challenges and enhancing the resilience of local communities to recover.

These relief initiatives remain an extended bridge of giving, consolidating values of international solidarity and contributing to building a more secure and stable future for affected families, far from the bitterness of displacement and the pain of disasters.
