Somalia reaffirms commitment to human rights at UN council

​GENEVA — H.E. Khadro Mohamed Dualle, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the United Nations in Geneva, reaffirmed her country’s firm commitment to advancing human rights and strengthening cooperation with international partners. Her remarks were delivered at the UN Human Rights Council, as reported by the Somali National News Agency (SONNA).

The Ambassador stated that the Federal Government of Somalia continues to implement a comprehensive package of reforms aimed at improving governance and protecting fundamental rights, according to the Somali News Agency.

Ambassador Dualle noted, in statements carried by SONNA, that Somalia places utmost importance on constructive dialogue and fruitful collaboration with member states and international institutions, emphasizing that these partnerships are a key pillar in supporting national recovery.

The Permanent Representative emphasized that protecting the dignity of Somali citizens is a top state priority, noting that ongoing structural reforms reflect the national will to align domestic laws with international standards.

She further explained that Somalia has made significant strides in enhancing political and social participation to ensure everyone’s involvement in shaping the country’s future, affirming the commitment to working closely with the UN to consolidate security.

The Ambassador pointed out that current challenges require international solidarity to support Somali national capacities in law enforcement, ensuring the sustainability of rights-related gains achieved in recent years despite complex regional circumstances.

Somalia remains dedicated to its partnership with the United Nations and global entities to promote peace, stability, and sustainable growth, as confirmed by the Somali National News Agency.
​The Ambassador concluded by stressing that Somalia will remain an active partner in the international system, keen on contributing positively to all initiatives aimed at preserving global peace and protecting the inherent rights of human beings everywhere.

​This Somali diplomatic momentum in Geneva embodies a new phase of ‘Human Rights Diplomacy’ adopted by Mogadishu. The state seeks to transform its international commitments into a tangible reality that bolsters international confidence in the national reform path.
