MOGADISHU — Qatar Charity has inaugurated an integrated health clinic in the city of Abudwak, located in the Galgaduud region of Somalia. This initiative is part of its humanitarian efforts to enhance primary healthcare services and meet the growing medical needs of residents in remote areas of the sisterly Federal Republic of Somalia.
Reports published by the Qatari newspaper “Al-Sharq” indicated that the clinic was constructed on an area of 1,120 square meters. It features specialized units for pediatrics, obstetrics, and gynecology, as well as departments for emergency care, laboratory testing, and vaccinations, alongside health awareness programs. The facility is expected to serve approximately 100,000 beneficiaries annually.
According to “Al-Sharq” newspaper, Abdulhakim Mohamed Dirie, Director of Planning at the Ministry of Health in Galmudug State, stated that this project represents a vital response to the local community’s needs and ends long-standing difficulties in accessing reliable medical services.
On his part, Mohieddin Adam Wali, the Mayor of Abudwak, told “Al-Sharq” that the new clinic will serve more than four districts that previously suffered from a severe shortage of health centers, thereby reducing the burden of traveling long distances for treatment.
”Al-Sharq” further noted that the center includes 20 rooms equipped with the latest medical apparatus. This project is an extension of a series of initiatives implemented by Qatar Charity in Somalia, which completed 16 projects in the health and nutrition sectors last year, benefiting over 58,000 people. These efforts underscore a sustained commitment to supporting the Somali health sector and developing its basic infrastructure.
