MOGADISHU — At least two people have died, and several others were injured in a tragic road accident that occurred at Afarta Darjiino junction in Mogadishu on Wednesday.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident happened when a cargo truck crashed into a motorized rickshaw (commonly known as a “bajaaj”) that was carrying civilian passengers. The impact was severe, and the situation was further complicated as rescuers struggled to lift the heavy truck off the crushed rickshaw.
Civilians who were nearby rushed to the scene to assist, while emergency responders transported the injured to nearby health facilities for treatment.
Incidents of this nature have been on the rise in Mogadishu, with speeding and mechanical failures frequently cited as the main causes. Authorities continue to call for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to curb the growing number of accidents on the city’s roads.
