DPM launches development coordination forum in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU — The Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Salah Jama, today launched the Development Coordination Forum, which brings together Somalia’s government and development partners.

The Forum, hosted by the Ministry of Planning, Finance, and Economic Development, discussed a new partnership that will unite the Somali government and aid agencies.

The Deputy Prime Minister stated that the forum’s main objective is to coordinate and streamline development assistance to Somalia and ways to achieve sustainable and inclusive national development.

He urged the government to strive for greater efficiency and effectiveness, and emphasized that the Dan-Qaran government will work to ensure that the country reaches a level of self-sufficiency and self-reliance.

The forum, attended by the international community, civil society, and other global stakeholders, also seeks to support Somalia’s development efforts.
