Saudi Qurbani project supports displaced families in Somalia

MOGADISHU — The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has distributed a new batch of its annual Qurbani project for the year 1447H in the Federal Republic of Somalia, covering Kahda district in Mogadishu and Towfiq district in Baidoa.

According to an official statement published by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the field operations included the distribution of 1,000 sacrificial meats, which were delivered directly to displaced families and the most vulnerable socio-economic groups in targeted areas.

The agency noted that this seasonal humanitarian initiative successfully reached approximately 24,000 vulnerable individuals, significantly contributing to addressing temporary food insecurity and bringing Eid joy to disadvantaged households facing severe living conditions throughout the regions.

This urgent food assistance falls within the framework of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continuous commitment, represented by KSrelief, to support the brotherly Somali people and alleviate the living burdens of families residing in displacement camps and remote rural communities.

Furthermore, this seasonal campaign aims to strengthen the values of social cohesion and Islamic humanitarian solidarity during the days of Eid Al-Adha, through direct relief channels that guarantee the proper delivery of assistance under high international standards.

The reports concluded by emphasizing the deep strategic relief partnerships binding international humanitarian bodies with Somali authorities, ensuring the sustainability of aid interventions and enhancing field coordination to meet the growing baseline needs of fragile communities across Somalia.

Seasonal humanitarian assistance provided by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) constitutes a fundamental pillar supporting social safety nets in Somalia, particularly amidst protracted crises affecting the food security of displaced and impoverished households. These interventions gain exceptional importance during religious occasions like Eid Al-Adha, transcending immediate material relief to foster regional solidarity and fraternal partnership between Saudi Arabia and Somalia. The expanded geographical scope of distribution to include both the Banadir region and South West State demonstrates the institutional capacity of KSrelief to effectively access highly vulnerable populations, thereby bolstering communal resilience and mitigating severe economic pressures.
