​Ministry of health inaugurates medical facilities serving the community

MOGADISHU — In a strategic move reflecting her firm will to modernize the medical system and enhance comprehensive health security, Somalia witnessed today, Wednesday, the inauguration of a package of construction projects and advanced scientific facilities. These landmarks form a protective shield for society and a launchpad for a global health renaissance.

Opening of Administrative and Medical Facilities

H.E. Dr. Ali Haji Adam, Minister of Health and Human Services, officially presided over the opening ceremony of new administrative and medical buildings. These facilities were designed according to the latest architectural systems to boost government performance and ensure seamless health services across all governorates.

The National Laboratory: A Technical Leap

The ceremony featured the inauguration of the new “National Laboratory,” a qualitative technical achievement equipped with advanced tools to Level 3 standards. This gives Somalia superior capacity to conduct complex testing and highly accurate infectious disease verification locally.

Humanizing Services and Staff Development

In his speech, the Minister emphasized that these facilities are humanitarian pillars aimed at safeguarding citizens’ lives and providing a modern working environment for medical cadres, ensuring high-quality and sustainable health services while praising the efforts of technical and administrative teams.

Strengthening the Ministry’s Operational Base

The new projects include two integrated administrative buildings that will provide a sophisticated operational environment for staff, contributing to accelerating decision-making and implementing national health plans aimed at expanding medical care for all segments of Somali society.

Health Sovereignty and Emergency Response

Somalia stressed in her statement that developing the National Laboratory represents the cornerstone of the emergency response system. It enables national cadres to diagnose critical cases without external dependence, enhancing the state’s health sovereignty against modern biological challenges.

Government Commitment to Comprehensive Welfare

Dr. Ali Haji Adam concluded the event by reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to continued investment in human resources and infrastructure to ensure that every citizen receives distinguished medical services, in line with Somalia’s vision for sustainable development.

​Integration of Institutional Efforts

The inauguration was attended by Dr. Guled Abdijalil, the Director General, along with department heads and technical officials. Their presence reflected a spirit of institutional solidarity to establish a strong health infrastructure that serves future generations and upgrades the national medical sector.
