SoDMA aids one thousand drought-affected families in Bakool

HUDUR — With a steadfast national will prioritizing human dignity, the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) dispatched an urgent relief convoy targeting families in the most drought-affected areas of the Bakool region.

The agency executed a distribution operation in Hudur district, providing integrated food packages to approximately 1,000 highly vulnerable families to combat the severe dry spells affecting local livelihoods.

Beneficiaries included low-income households, persons with disabilities, and recently displaced families, showcasing the inclusive humanitarian standards SoDMA employs to reach the most fragile populations.

SoDMA clarified that the relief items were selected to meet basic nutritional needs, directly easing economic pressures on households in rural and remote areas suffering from resource scarcity.

Local authorities in Bakool praised this immediate government intervention, emphasizing that the aid serves as a true lifeline for residents facing harsh environmental challenges.

This initiative is part of a national response plan aimed at mitigating food insecurity risks and strengthening community resilience against recurrent environmental crises.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to coordinating with partners to ensure a sustained flow of aid and expand coverage to ensure social and economic stability across all affected provinces.

These dedicated field operations prove that investing in human beings and protecting their food security is the fundamental pillar of a stable state and the ultimate guarantee for a future of dignity.
