RIYADH — Saudi medical and surgical team from the Saudi Program for Separating Conjoined Twins at King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital in Riyadh has successfully performed a complex 12-hour operation to separate Somali twins “Rahma and Ramla.”
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the surgical procedure was executed across eight meticulous stages, involving a team of 36 consultants and specialists in anesthesia, pediatric surgery, urology, orthopedics, and plastic surgery.
H.E. Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre and head of the medical team, stated in remarks carried by (SPA) that this marks the 68th operation in the program’s 35-year history.
His Excellency emphasized that this achievement reflects Saudi Arabia’s leading role in humanitarian and medical fields, translating a commitment to global human welfare, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
Dr. Al Rabeeah further expressed gratitude for the continuous support the program receives from the Saudi leadership, establishing the Kingdom as a premier international destination for treating the most complex medical cases.
He congratulated the twins’ parents on the safety of “Rahma and Ramla,” praising the dedication of the medical staff who contributed to this national milestone that garnered widespread acclaim, per the official Saudi source.
