MOGADISHU — In line with international efforts to consolidate humanitarian solidarity and mitigate economic challenges, relief initiatives continue to support communities affected by climate crises. Synchronized with the Holy Month of Ramadan, these efforts aim to ensure family stability and strengthen the resilience of those most in need against resource scarcity and the lingering effects of drought.
The Turkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV) has implemented a comprehensive relief program across the Federal Republic of Somalia, distributing food parcels to 8,250 vulnerable families in seven states and 13 key districts. Benefiting approximately 80,000 individuals, this Ramadan campaign is designed to bolster food security and provide essential nutritional requirements.
Official sources stated that the aid included strategic food commodities such as flour, rice, vegetable oils, and legumes. These supplies were directly targeted at displaced persons’ camps and regions severely impacted by successive drought waves—particularly the “Hendri” and “Bilher” camps near Mogadishu—ensuring that Ramadan meals are provided with dignity and peace of mind.
The Religious Affairs Counselor at the Turkish Embassy in Mogadishu emphasized that this support represents an urgent humanitarian response to the exceptional conditions imposed by the drought. He noted that the initiative embodies deep fraternal ties and a moral commitment to vulnerable communities, transforming donor contributions into direct field assistance that touches lives in moments of greatest need.
The news report indicated that field teams, comprising dedicated staff and volunteers, completed distributions through a highly organized mechanism reaching both remote areas and overcrowded camps. This effectively alleviated the living burdens of thousands of families and reinforced global solidarity as a message of hope amidst ongoing humanitarian crises.
Press information noted that this initiative is a core element of the foundation’s global strategy to combat hunger and improve the quality of life. By addressing nutritional gaps in regions facing logistical and climatic hurdles, the project contributes to social stability and ensures a dignified life for those affected by environmental shifts.
The organizing entity reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to continuing relief and development programs across various Somali regions. It expressed profound gratitude to contributors whose support allowed the foundation to expand its reach, ensuring that the most vulnerable populations are protected from the weight of global economic and environmental challenges.
International humanitarian projects remain a cornerstone for supporting social stability in stricken regions. These direct interventions contribute to consolidating the values of global giving, transforming relief commitments into a tangible reality that preserves human dignity and mitigates the impact of successive living crises, in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
