MOGADISHU — Within the strategic framework to bolster state authority and enforce the rule of law, H.E. Abdulkadir Ali, Director General of the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation, chaired a high-level meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Stabilization in recovered territories.
The discussions focused on aligning roles among government institutions to ensure sustainable security, particularly in recently liberated districts within Lower and Middle Shabelle, paving the way for governance restoration, according to the Somali National News Agency (SONNA).
During the session, the Director General emphasized that consolidating stabilization is a fundamental pillar for rebuilding trust between citizens and the state, noting that the utmost priority lies in assessing urgent field needs and delivering essential public services.
The committee explored ways to overcome operational and logistical hurdles facing field teams, reaffirming the necessity of a unified roadmap to accelerate humanitarian and developmental interventions across all zones liberated from militant groups.
In a related context, coordination mechanisms with international partners, notably the UNDP, were reviewed to ensure external support aligns with national sovereign priorities, enhancing the long-term efficiency of economic and social recovery programs.
Participating representatives renewed their commitment to unifying efforts between security and service sectors to prevent administrative vacuums, with an intensive focus on building local capacity to lead stabilization efforts in their respective regions.
The session also highlighted national reconciliation as an integral part of the stabilization strategy, asserting that lasting social peace begins by addressing local grievances and fostering dialogue among various social components.
Deliberations indicated that the Ministry prioritizes the development of digitized databases for stabilization efforts to ensure maximum transparency in resource distribution and track the actual impact of developmental projects in strategic areas.
The committee concluded with the necessity of maintaining these coordination sessions to ensure flexibility against emerging challenges, reaffirming that the Interior Ministry’s leadership is the guarantor of integrating national and international efforts.
These intensive administrative maneuvers represent the cornerstone of the “Transition to Sustainability” project. Shifting from military operations to civil stabilization requires cross-sectoral institutional harmony.
According to observers, the successful synchronization of national resources by this ministerial committee will pave the way for transforming recovered areas into models of stability and prosperity, ultimately enhancing the Somali state’s resilience and consolidating the pillars of good governance across the nation
