Somalia and Indonesia launch comprehensive health partnership

MOGADISHU — In a step to deepen bilateral relations, His Excellency Dr. Ali Haji Adan, Minister of Health and Social Care in the Somali Federal Government, received today, Thursday, in the capital Mogadishu, His Excellency Mr. Wetjaksono Adji, the new Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Somalia.

The meeting focused on discussing ways to strengthen joint cooperation between the two countries in the vital health sector. The two sides thoroughly discussed the prospects for developing bilateral relations between the two Ministries of Health, focusing on the pressing need to support specialized training and qualification programs for health personnel, activating the exchange of medical expertise, and expanding future cooperation areas to include comprehensive healthcare projects.

This reception comes amid the Federal Government’s growing interest in enhancing the capacity of the national health sector and its aspiration to benefit from the international expertise of G20 countries like Indonesia, especially in the areas of public health and epidemic control. This underscores Somalia’s commitment to providing high-quality health services to its citizens.

The Somali Minister affirmed the Ministry of Health’s commitment to building an effective and sustainable partnership with the Indonesian side, praising the pivotal role Jakarta can play in supporting the Government’s efforts to improve health services. His Excellency wished the new Ambassador success in his diplomatic mission.
