DMA chief receives financial support to aid Awdal victims

MOGADISHU —  His Excellency Mohamud Moallim Abdulle, Chairman of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), today received a financial contribution of USD 200,000 from the Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, His Excellency Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab).

The handover ceremony was attended by several ministers and federal parliamentarians representing the Awdal region. The financial assistance is part of an urgent response to support communities affected by a severe drought in the region, located in northwestern Somalia.

Chairman Abdulle expressed his appreciation for this humanitarian initiative, noting that the contribution reflects strong national solidarity. He affirmed that the funds will be swiftly delivered to those most in need in the drought-stricken areas.

The Awdal region has been experiencing dire humanitarian conditions due to prolonged drought, which has severely impacted both people and livestock. Local and international stakeholders are being urged to scale up their support to mitigate the crisis.
