MOGADISHU –– According to the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), the Speaker of the Federal Parliament’s House of the People, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), officially laid the foundation stone for a water borehole project in Hudur district and its surrounding areas in the Bakool region on Friday, August 1, 2025.
The Speaker was accompanied by the Federal Minister of Livestock, Forestry and Range, Hassan Hussein Mohamed (widely known as Hassan Eelaay), as well as officials from the Bakool regional administration and Hudur district. The ceremony was attended by government representatives and local residents.
Speaking to SONNA, Sheikh Adan Madobe stated that this borehole initiative is part of a broader development plan aimed at improving living conditions across the region, particularly through better access to clean water.
He confirmed that drilling of the borehole will commence in the coming days and is expected to significantly address the long-standing water scarcity faced by the people of Hudur.
The Speaker emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to local development, describing the project as a practical step toward enhancing basic services and promoting stability in underserved areas, according to the Somali National News Agency.
