SoDMA and Save the Children enhance cooperation

MOGADISHU — The Chairman of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mohamud Moallim Abdulle, received a high-level delegation from Save the Children International, led by Mr. Mahmoud Mohamed Hassan, Country Director of the organization in Somalia.

During the meeting, the SoDMA Chairman emphasized the importance of aligning international humanitarian efforts with the Federal Government’s priorities, particularly the National Transformation Plan (NTP), which serves as a strategic roadmap for sustainable development and community resilience.

Mr. Abdulle reiterated SoDMA’s commitment to expanding its partnerships with humanitarian and development actors through a unified national framework that ensures effective disaster and emergency response. He also acknowledged the vital role of Save the Children in protecting children and supporting sectors such as education, nutrition, and life-saving interventions.

For his part, the Country Director of Save the Children reaffirmed the organization’s readiness to strengthen collaboration with SoDMA and all relevant government institutions. He stressed that achieving lasting humanitarian impact requires strong institutional coordination and alignment with national strategies.

This initiative is part of SoDMA’s broader efforts to ensure synergy between international actors and government-led plans, thereby enhancing response efficiency and contributing to sustainable local development.
