MOGADISHU — A landmine explosion in the Karan district of Mogadishu killed at least three civilians and injured others on Saturday, according to eyewitnesses.
The blast occurred in Ceel Ali Gedi village and was reportedly heard across multiple areas in the district, though the intended target remains unknown.
Karaan district security forces investigated the scene but have not made any arrests. No group has claimed responsibility for the explosion, though al-Shabab militants frequently carry out such attacks.
Last night, Somalia’s Minister of Internal Security, Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartaag, alongside police and National Intelligence Service commanders, joined security forces in patrolling Mogadishu’s districts to oversee ongoing operations to enhance the city’s security.
