DPM launches the national stabilization coordination meeting in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU — The Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) of the Federal Government of Somalia, Salah Ahmed Jama, chaired the national stabilization coordination meeting which opened in Mogadishu.

This meeting focuses on the progress made in the government-led stabilization program, which aims to deliver social services, establish governance, ensure security, and provide justice in areas recently liberated from Al-Shabaab.

The meeting in Mogadishu also discusses preparations for the second phase of operations against Al-Shabaab in parts of the country.

The Somali National Army and local forces have withdrawn from many areas and districts where heavy fighting had taken place to expel Al-Shabaab, with expectations that the displaced people will return.
