Federal gov’t delivers food aid to IDPs in Hudur town

MOGADISHU — Somali Federal Government has delivered food aid to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the regional State of Southwest.

A plane carrying a consignment of food supplies touched down at Hudur Airport in Bakool region on Monday after leaving Mogadishu’s Aden Abdulle International Airport in the morning.

A high delegation from the Federal government were aboard the plane.

Humanitarian Affairs Minister Khadija Mohamed Diriye and Information Minister Osman Dubbe led the government delegation from the capital Mogadishu.

The food aid is expected to be distributed to vulnerable families living in IDP camps in the town.

South West State is among the Federal regional States adversely affected by the ongoing devastating drought in the country.

Somalia is currently grappling with the worst drought in decades following failure of four consecutive rainy seasons.
