ABUD WAQ — Security forces in the central town of Abud Waq in Galmudud regional state have reportedly apprehended a man accused of raping and killing a pregnant woman.
The woman’s body was found outside the town after she was reported missing by her family.
Abud Waq police said they have arrested the main suspect behind the rape and killing of Ubah Mohamed Yahye.
In recent years there has been an increase in the number of rapes and killings of women in Somalia, most recently in the towns of Abudwaq, Galkayo, Burao, Bossaso, Garowe, Belet Xaawo, Luuq, Mogadishu, and other towns.
