MOGADISHU — His Excellency Youssef Hassan, President of the Somali Red Crescent Society, commended the significant support provided by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) to fund the project supporting the water and environmental sanitation sector in displaced persons’ camps. This vital project is focused on five key regions in Somalia: Mogadishu, Baidoa, Kismayo, Galkayo, and Bossaso.
His Excellency emphasized that the project, which includes the construction of 750 health facilities and is being implemented at a rapid pace, represents a qualitative leap in improving environmental sanitation and curbing the spread of diseases linked to poor water services, especially in camps that house tens of thousands of families affected by conflicts and drought.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), this support is part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continuous commitment to providing humanitarian and relief assistance to communities in need.
The President of the Somali Red Crescent extended his thanks and appreciation to KSrelief for its ongoing support for humanitarian projects in the Arab and Islamic world. He also noted that the support reflects the Center’s dedication to serving the displaced and securing their basic needs.
He praised the coordinating and logistical field efforts provided by the Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization in implementing this project in cooperation with the Somali Red Crescent, as confirmed by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
