MOGADISHU — Continuing its dedicated support to the most vulnerable communities in Somalia, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) on Sunday distributed 1,000 food baskets to families in need in Daynile District, Banadir Region, benefiting approximately 6,000 individuals. The distribution was reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
This effort is part of the fourth phase of KSrelief’s Food Security Support Project in Somalia, launched to address the worsening humanitarian situation caused by repeated droughts, internal displacement, and widespread food insecurity.
KSrelief, the humanitarian arm of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has emerged as one of the leading international actors supporting relief efforts in Somalia. In recent years, the center has implemented a wide range of life-saving interventions across critical sectors, including food assistance, healthcare, water and sanitation, shelter, and education. It has also provided rapid response aid in times of disaster, including droughts, floods, and disease outbreaks.
This initiative reflects the Kingdom’s ongoing commitment—under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman—to support suffering populations around the world and uphold the principles of compassion and global solidarity.
Project coordinators expressed hope that the assistance would ease some of the burdens faced by affected families, affirming KSrelief’s intention to continue its support in the upcoming phases in coordination with Somali authorities and humanitarian partners.
