Somalia participates in international agricultural conference in Germany

BERLIN — The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Mohamed Abdi Hayir Mareye, led a delegation to participate in international conference on agricultural development held in Berlin, Germany.

The annual event focused on advancing global agriculture, exchanging expertise, and fostering collaboration among nations and international organizations working in the agricultural sector.

During the conference, Minister Mareye held bilateral meetings with agriculture ministers from various countries and senior officials from international organizations in attendance. These discussions centered on the challenges faced by Somali farmers, the obstacles hindering agricultural development, and strategies to support and enhance Somalia’s agricultural sector.

The minister emphasized the urgent need for increased investment and development projects to support Somali farmers, particularly those in areas affected by climate change and recurring droughts. He appealed to the international community to scale up efforts to address these challenges and provide sustainable solutions for Somalia’s agricultural development.

The conference provided a platform for Somalia to highlight its agricultural priorities and seek international support to improve food security, resilience, and livelihoods for Somali farming communities.
