Somalia celebrates universal children’s day

MOGADISHU — Government officials, UN representatives, and local and international NGOs gathered to mark World Children’s Day under the theme “Listen for the Future.”

The event highlighted the importance of children’s rights and the need to invest in them to shape Somalia’s future, especially in the face of conflict and climate challenges.

World Children’s Day, established in 1954 as Universal Children’s Day, is celebrated annually on November 20th to promote international togetherness, raise awareness among children worldwide, and improve children’s welfare. Participants at the event emphasized the critical role of investing in children to ensure a brighter future for Somalia.
