MOGADISHU — The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) and the NIS Foundation have agreed to work together on various issues related to climate change, disaster preparedness and response, food security, environmental protection, emergency aid and sustainable development.

The two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday at the SoDMA headquarters in Mogadishu, Somalia. The MoU outlines the areas of cooperation and the roles and responsibilities of each partner.

The chairperson of SoDMA, Mr. Mohamud Moalin Abdulle, said that the MoU will strengthen the collaboration between the two entities and enhance their capacity to address the current and future challenges posed by climate change and disasters.

“The MoU will enable us to share our expertise, resources and best practices in order to improve our efficiency and effectiveness in delivering our services to the people of Somalia,” he said.

The director of NIS Foundation, Kassim Gabow Duale, said that the MoU will also facilitate the implementation of innovative and sustainable solutions to the problems faced by the communities affected by climate change and disasters.

“We are committed to working with SoDMA and other stakeholders to develop and promote solutions that are environmentally friendly, socially inclusive and economically viable,” he said.
