LONDON — The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland signed yesterday at the Global Food Security Summit in London a joint statement pledging support for food security in Somalia.
The agreement was signed by Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor General of KSrelief Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah and UK Minister of State for Development and Africa Andrew Mitchell.
KSrelief and the UK office have jointly pledged to contribute $1 million each to support the vital work of the World Food Programme (WFP).
Al Rabeeah emphasized the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to bolstering strategic cooperation with its partners, and highlighted the strong partnership between KSrelief and the UK office, exemplified in their joint support of the WFP in delivering essential food aid to the most vulnerable regions of Somalia.
Financial assistance forms an integral part of WFP’s comprehensive response to improve food security and mitigate the risk of famine in Somalia.
