Disaster management agency supports resilience displaced families

MOGADISHU — The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has instituted a progressive phase of urgent humanitarian interventions within the southern regions, aiming to support vulnerable local communities affected by climate anomalies and anchor survival baselines for disadvantaged households nationwide.

According to an update published on its official Facebook page today, a high-level delegation led by South West State Interim Leader, Mr. Jibril Abdirashid Haji, accompanied by SoDMA Chairman, Mr. Mohamud Moalim Abdulle, and federal Foreign Minister, Mr. Abdisalan Abdi Ali, arrived in Diinsoor district.

The Agency’s official Facebook page reported that the joint field deployment marked the official launch of an extensive humanitarian aid delivery operation meticulously designed to distribute integrated food and relief packages targeting 2,000 underprivileged and high-risk families within the district.

The update noted that this vital stabilization initiative was executed through a robust strategic partnership and bilateral technical coordination established between the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) and the Government of the People’s Republic of China to reinforce domestic safety nets.

SoDMA Chairman, Mr. Mohamud Moalim Abdulle, emphasized that the relief assets were systematically allocated toward the absolute most vulnerable demographics based on field data, striving to save lives and mitigate the severe socio-economic hardships confronted by displaced citizens.

For his part, South West State Interim Leader, Mr. Jibril Abdirashid Haji, conveyed his profound gratitude to the Agency, affirming that the regional administration prioritizes protecting displaced populations as a sovereign objective to bolster demographic resilience across Bay province.

The field distribution proceedings drew active executive participation from the South West State Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, alongside local community elders and technical officers from SoDMA, who directly managed the logistical metrics to secure equitable and accountable distribution processes.

The Agency concluded its published report by commending China and global development partners for their sustained responses, reaffirming its strategic commitment to extending humanitarian convoys into remote zones to preempt ecological crises and secure durable recovery within the Horn of Africa.

This strategic field mobilization by the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) underscores its evolving sovereign and logistical capacity to effectively localize global assistance alongside China and regional states; solidifying the agency as an indispensable institutional pillar safeguarding vulnerable demographics and anchoring long-term resilience across Somalia.
