The Somali National University (SNU) signed a series of strategic agreements in Beijing, China, targeting the development of advanced technology and scientific research to modernize higher education and localize modern technologies serving sustainable development and digital transformation.
The university delegation was led by Dr. Mohamed Mohamud Mohamed, President of SNU, in an official mission aimed at enhancing public education quality, linking it to national developmental needs, and building effective partnerships with leading global technical institutions.
Localizing AI and Innovation
These understandings included a qualitative partnership with Beijing Hisign Technology Co., Ltd. to integrate AI and biometric sciences into national curricula and upgrade university laboratories, ensuring that students keep pace with the latest global technical developments.
According to the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), the cooperation covers “Big Data” and machine vision, allowing the country’s largest public university to provide an educational environment that mimics smart systems, preparing Somali youth for technological innovation with confidence and competence.

In the context of academic cooperation, the university signed a strategic agreement with the China-Africa Institute (CAI) of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences to activate exchange programs for professors and students, enhancing mutual cultural and scientific dialogue.
