Somalia launches national Diphtheria vaccination campaign in Banadir region

​MOGADISHU — H.E. Ali Haji Adam, the Somali Minister of Health, officially launched the first phase of the national immunization campaign against Diphtheria today in Mogadishu, as reported by the Somali National News Agency (SONNA). The campaign covers all districts of the Banadir region as part of government efforts to safeguard public health.

The Somali National News Agency (SONNA) further noted that the launching ceremony was attended by the Deputy Governor of Banadir for Social Affairs, senior health officials, and representatives from international organizations.

​In a statement published by the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), the Minister of Health emphasized that the campaign, running until the 20th of this month, is a top priority for the ministry to eradicate Diphtheria. He reiterated Somalia’s commitment to eliminating the disease in line with global health successes.

​According to the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), the campaign aims to vaccinate all children across the Banadir region to enhance community immunity and curb the spread of epidemics, marking a significant milestone in the country’s healthcare initiatives.
