AUSSOM troops in Middle Shabelle deliver medical supplies to Xawaadley health center

JOWHAR — On Friday, Burundian troops stationed at the Xawaadley Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Middle Shabelle, as part of the African Union Support Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), delivered essential medical supplies to the Xawaadley Health Centre.

This initiative aims to bolster civil-military relations and support local healthcare infrastructure.

Captain Ali Abdullahi Ali of the Somali National Army (SNA) expressed gratitude to the Burundian National Defense Force (BNDF) for their timely assistance, while Lieutenant Colonel Karenzo Emile reaffirmed BNDF’s commitment to aiding the Hirshabelle State administration in stabilizing liberated areas.

It’s noteworthy that Burundi had previously announced its withdrawal from AUSSOM in December 2024 due to disagreements over troop allocations.

However, this recent contribution indicates ongoing collaboration between Burundian forces and Somali authorities to enhance regional stability and development.
