Gunmen kill former regional state lawmaker in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU —  A Former Member of Parliament for South West State, Ali Omar Gaab, was killed in Mogadishu’s Yaqshid district on Friday night.

Eyewitnesses reported that gunmen armed with pistols shot and killed Gaab before swiftly fleeing the scene. Despite the arrival of security forces, no arrests were made.

The al-Shabab militant group has claimed responsibility for the killing, asserting that the deceased was a Member of Parliament representing the South West Somalia administration.

Neither the South West State authorities nor the federal government have commented on the killing yet.
