SSC-Khatumo demands direct humanitarian projects, rejects Somaliland’s role

LAS ANOD — The SSC-Khatumo administration has urged the federal government to distribute humanitarian projects from the international community equitably across the country, particularly to vulnerable areas like those in SSC-Khatumo.

Deputy Leader of SSC-Khatumo, Dr. Mohamed Shiine, stated on Monday that the government should not channel SSC administration projects through the self-declared state of Somaliland.

“If projects intended for SSC-Khatumo areas are routed through Somaliland, it suggests that the federal government still regards SSC-Khatumo areas as part of Somaliland. It is unacceptable for the government to direct projects designated for implementation in SSC-Khatumo to Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland,” he added.

The deputy leader also emphasized, “One surprising aspect is that the projects meant for SSC areas are routed through Somaliland for implementation. So, who controls the SSC areas? When the money for the projects is given to Somaliland, is it intended for Somaliland to purchase weapons and equipment to attack SSC-Khatumo?” said Dr. Shiine.

The remarks of the deputy leader of SSC-Khatumo come as the federal government allocated 60 million dollars for education in several areas of the country, excluding SSC-Khatumo.
