Somalia and the UN discuss debt relief and disaster mitigation

MOGADISHU — The Minister of Finance of Somalia, Mr. Bihi Iman Egeh, today met with the Deputy Representative of the United Nations in Somalia for the coordination of humanitarian activities, Mr. George Conway.

During the meeting, officials focused on the debt relief mechanism and how to reduce the impacts of disasters affecting various regions of the country.

George Conway emphasized that the UN will support Somalia in its debt relief efforts and address the challenges arising from natural disasters.

The Somali government expresses a strong commitment to managing its debt and handling the financial assistance received by Somalia, anticipating that if successful, it will mark another significant achievement under President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo’s leadership.
