Minister Abdinasir Arush chairs a virtual meeting on humanitarian interventions

BAIDOA — Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management for South West regional State Abdinasir Abdi Arush chaired a virtual meeting to seek humanitarian intervention.

The meeting was aimed at seeking to focused on effective humanitarian interventions in a bid to prevent the humanitarian situation in the State from deteriorating and ways of scaling up the ongoing drought.

South West State is one of the regional Members States grappling with a high number of people who have been severely affected by the ongoing devastating drought.

A number of people have fled in internally displaced camps in the region as the situation continue to get out of hand.

The region also has a fair share of the Al- Qaeda affiliate group- Al- Shabaab insurgency who control a swathe of land in the State.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud appointed Wadajir party leader Abdirahman Abdishakur on Tuesday as the special envoy to tackle Drought in the country.
