BAIDOA — Somalia’s South West State (SWS) Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management (MoHADM) has delivered Food Aid to Huddur town.

The aid included rice, flour, sugar, oil and dates which was donated by local leaders, businessmen and other local people.

South West State is one of the States in Somalia that has been severely affected by the ongoing drought which has been occasioned by three successive failed rainy seasons in the country.

UN agencies say millions of people in the East African Nations are encountering the risk of starvation and diseases.

Dozens of people have been displaced and fleed their homes across the region with the number of people seeking shelter in Internally Displaced Persons IDPS camps and other areas controlled by the global aid organizations ballooning day by day.

The global aid agencies operating in the Somalia have escalated calls for funding in a bid to alleviate the effects of the ongoing severe drought which has also sparked famine and outbreak of diseases with vulnerable people being women and children.
