MOGADISHU — Somalia’s Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management(MoHADM) has on Thursday dispatched a consignment of food aid to Burhakaba and Galkayo districts.
This is part of the Federal government ongoing emergency relief assistance and responses to people who have been hardly hit by the drought in the Horn of Africa Nation.
According to Save the Children, a non-profit organization, Somalia is continuing to experience severe drought which has affected about 90 percent land and approximately a quarter of its 16 million population.
Those hardly hit by the devastating drought are women and children who are usually vulnerable to harsh climatic conditions and natural calamities.
This even comes as spring continues to be recorded in some parts of the country that has been facing severe drought as number of people entering main towns fleeing from the effects of the drought continues to skyrocket each passing day.
