Somali trader shot dead in South Africa

CAPETOWN —   A South African gunman shot dead a Somali businessman in South Africa on Saturday night.

The victim was identified as Abdinasir Mohamud Abdi, and the assailants fled the scene.

Abdi was shot and killed outside his business in Mitchells Plain, a suburb of Cape Town.

Following the killing of the businessman, South African police arrived at the scene, but no arrests have been made yet.

Somali traders in South Africa have been targeted for years for xenophobic attacks. The Somali Community Board of South Africa (SCBSA) estimates that dozens were killed this year alone.
